About Cairn Terriers:

Originating in Scotland, Cairn Terriers are an old breed from which Westies and Scotties are mostly likely derived from. The breeds are therefore very similar. Cairns are a hardy breed with few ailments common to the breed. They are fun loving little dogs who love to play and explore. Terriers by nature – they love chasing! They love hunting insects and other garden beasts. They are friendly, loving and sweet – very good with other pets and children. They are a small dog but are renowned for thinking that they are actually bigger than every other dog that they meet!

Cairns can be practically any shade from beige to dark smokey grey. They normally have dark muzzles and are brindled (various shades of colours). Cairns do not loose their fur and therefore do not leave hairs on everything – but they do need to be clipped or stripped.

Cairns have been owned by royalty and aristocrats for hundreds of years. They are lovely dogs with big hearts and a lot of spirit! They make the perfect addition to any family.
